During my time as Marketing Director of G-Que BBQ, I managed all of the company’s social media accounts including accounts for Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, & LinkedIn. I produced content for 6 posts per week, which included writing copy for captions as well as taking photos, recording videos, editing content, & scheduling posts through a social media aggregator.
My goal with social media posts was to drive sales by educating followers on our menu items while maintaining a strong brand voice. To connect with followers on a real level, I used informal, localized vernacular with a fun, playful tone. In order to optimize the content for search engines (SEO), I was as descriptive as possible & utilized keywords to make sure the content would appear under relevant searches.
Since the food menu was cyclical, I’d be writing captions for the same menu items up to 4 times annually. In order to efficiently write multiple captions for the same item, I batch-produced content by writing multiple variations of item captions at once, setting post dates on each caption, then organizing the captions in Asana, our project management platform. I’d use the same workflow for photos & video clips of food items by attaching the media to post captions in Asana & organizing all of the content in a shared Google Drive folder that I set up for the company.
Engagement on social media increased dramatically, & I was able to grow the total social media following by 7% during my employment. In addition to the social media growth, the visibility of our brand attracted the attention of various media outlets like The Cooking Channel, Yelp, & TravelPulse, thus generating positive publicity for the brand. Finally, my method for batch-producing content set G-Que up for success by creating a library of copy & media that they could use well into the future.
